The 4.5G system offers an end-to-end solution that delivers higher data rates compared to previous generations, enabling seamless service for voice, data, and multimedia streaming anytime and anywhere.

With 4.5G connectivity technologies, the aim is to provide the public with fast and uninterrupted communication services for safety and emergencies through mobile network operators. To achieve this, ULAK’s universal and commercial coverage extends across Türkiye. ULAK 4.5G base stations currently provide uninterrupted and secure communication services to more than 2.5 million citizens.

The capabilities gained in 4th generation wireless communication technology are anticipated to serve as a significant foundation and reference for the domestic and national production of future communication technologies. Specifically, 4.5G ULAK base stations are planned to be utilized as part of the 5G infrastructure.

4.5G Remote Radio Unit Products (RRU)

The ULAK Remote Radio Unit (RRU) provides transmission and interface between the ULAK Baseband Unit (BBU) and user terminals. Analog signals from user terminals are converted into digital data by the RRU and transmitted to the BBU.

The RRU performs the operations required for propagating high-frequency signals. It supports channel bandwidths of 1.4, 3, 5, 10, 15, and 20 MHz and offers options of 2×2 and 4×4 depending on the number of receivers and transmitters. The RRU can provide a maximum RF output power of 4×40W.

4.5G Baseband Unit Product (BBU)

The ULAK Baseband Unit (BBU) is the central processing unit of the base station, managing, controlling, and processing data. It is responsible for signal processing, protocol management, and communication between the base station and the core network.

Designed as a baseband unit, the BBU runs all software configurations, including LTE Layer 1-2-3 stack software. The product, with 4×4 20 MHz LTE capacity, performs Radio Resource Management (RRM) operations. To facilitate communication with the RRU, the BBU supports up to 18 CPRI connections.

ULAK Open RAN 4G eNB

The ULAK New 4.5G Baseband Unit supports core BBU functions while incorporating a COTS Server architecture to provide Open-RAN and Single-RAN support:

  • Open-RAN architecture offers greater flexibility and cost efficiency for operators.
  • Single-RAN implementation integrates LTE and 5G radio technologies into a single infrastructure.
  • eCPRI data transmission ensures lower latency, crucial for high-speed LTE applications, and provides a 10 Gbit/s data rate in the Fronthaul.
  • Virtualization and distributed architecture are achieved through the vBBU feature of the New 4.5G BBU.
