Leadership Change at Communication Technologies Cluster, Founded on the Principles of “Locality” and “Nationalization”

Ruşen Kömürcü, General Manager of ULAK Haberleşme AŞ, a domestic base station manufacturer, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Communication Technologies Cluster (HTK), which operates based on the principles of “locality” and “nationalization.”

HTK was established in 2017 by OSTİM with the support of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) to bring together stakeholders in the communication technologies sector, foster collaboration, support and enhance local and national development in the economy and industry, meet the sector’s needs, and enable global competitiveness. Additionally, it aims to commercialize the knowledge developed by universities and address the requirements of hardware, software, and material manufacturers as well as service providers in the sector.

Aiming to strengthen Türkiye’s global competitiveness and empower the local ecosystem, HTK, with its 183 members, develops national solutions to enhance the country’s communication infrastructure.

ULAK Haberleşme AŞ General Manager Ruşen Kömürcü has been elected as the Chairman of the HTK Board of Directors.

Taking over the position from Mustafa Yaman, Kömürcü stated in an interview with an AA correspondent that they will work with the vision of accelerating the development of local and national technologies to make Türkiye a stronger player on the global stage.

Kömürcü highlighted that ULAK Haberleşme, which operates with over 3,000 base stations in Türkiye, strengthens the country’s communication infrastructure with its 4.5G and 5G solutions.

Emphasizing that the company provides innovative solutions for the sector through technologies developed within the domestic ecosystem, Kömürcü stated:

“As the Chairman of the HTK Board of Directors, we will implement projects in line with the vision emphasized by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, regarding the prioritization of local and national solutions in the 5G infrastructure. The projects to be carried out by ULAK Haberleşme and HTK will make significant contributions to the sector. We will complete all stages of the design and production of 5G and beyond network equipment, which is being rapidly tendered by BTK and will redefine Türkiye’s information technology history, with national contributions.”

Following his appointment as HTK Board Chairman, Kömürcü visited Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Kasım Gönüllü and Ömer İleri, Deputy Chairman of the AK Party responsible for Information and Communication Technologies.

During the meeting, discussions were held on domestic solutions for Türkiye’s communication infrastructure and sectoral collaboration opportunities.
