ULAK Communications CEO Ruşen Kömürcü Takes Part in Anadolu Agency’s “Photos of the Year” Vote
Kömürcü reviewed a total of 112 photographs taken in 2025 by Anadolu Agency (AA) photojournalists and reporters, competing in six categories and reflecting events that resonated strongly across Türkiye and the global agenda, as part of the competition sponsored by Lifebox, AJet, and ROKETSAN.
In the “Gaza: Hunger” category, Kömürcü selected Ahmed Jihad Ibrahim Al-Arini’s photograph titled “Food distributed to Palestinians struggling with hunger in Gaza.” In the “Portrait” category, he chose Mahmoud Abu Hamda’s “Mother’s Precious One,” and in the “News” category, Muhammed Abdullah Kurtar’s photograph titled “Everywhere.”
Kömürcü voted for Arpad Kurucz’s “Corridor of Love” in the “Sports” category, Fatih Gönül’s “Brought by Spring” in the “Wildlife and Environment” category, and İsa Terli’s “Moonlit Delight” in the “Daily Life”category.

“We made our selections from the frames and were pleased to do so”
Kömürcü stated that Anadolu Agency, with its more than a century-long history as Türkiye’s established and official news agency, continues to share highly impactful images from all around the world.
Noting that the collection was highly effective both in following life through current news and in informing Türkiye about the world and the world about Türkiye, Kömürcü said:
“From the year’s frames, which reflect daily life and news, showcase the artistic strength of our photographers, and present high-value journalistic compositions, we made our selections with great satisfaction. We thank Anadolu Agency for all their efforts and wish them continued success.”
Voting Process
Organized by Anadolu Agency since 2012, the competition features four main categories this year—“News,” “Wildlife and Environment,” “Sports,” and “Daily Life”—along with two special categories titled “Gaza: Hunger” and “Portrait.”
Participants from around the world take part in the voting process with Turkish and English captions and are allowed to vote for as many photographs as they wish.
