ULAK Communications Inc. Files 208 Patent Applications for 6G Technologies
ULAK Communications Inc. General Manager Ruşen Kömürcü announced that the company has filed 208 patent applications focused on 6G technologies, which hold strategic importance for next-generation communication infrastructures.
Kömürcü stated that ULAK Communications Inc., acting with the mission of transforming Turkey from a technology consumer into a technology producer, is taking a decisive step toward enhancing its international competitiveness and asserting its presence in the formation of global 6G standards.
Emphasizing the company’s efforts to strengthen Turkey’s progress in the patent field for 6G technologies, Kömürcü noted that, since patents are valid only in the countries where they are registered, ULAK Communications Inc. has been submitting separate applications for each country.
Sharing details about the company’s 6G patent activities, Kömürcü said:
“As Türkiye’s pioneering organization in the field of national communication technologies, we have achieved a significant milestone by filing 208 patent applications focused on 6G technologies—an area of strategic importance for next-generation communication infrastructures. Of these, 85 patents were filed internationally under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), 9 in the United States, and 114 nationally in Turkey. To date, 3 patents have been granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and 54 by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, bringing the total number of registered patents to 57.”
“A Portfolio of 208 Applications Reflects Turkey’s Determination in the Global Race”
Highlighting that 6G represents not only faster data speeds but also AI-driven networks, ultra-low latency, and real-time connectivity across billions of devices, Kömürcü stated that ULAK Communications Inc. is accelerating its patent efforts to position itself at the heart of this transformation.
He emphasized that the portfolio of 208 applications symbolizes Turkey’s determination to be an active player and a key contributor—not just an observer—in the global 6G race.
Underscoring that patent work is not merely about numbers, Kömürcü said these applications embody a high level of technological innovation and originality, ensuring strong global competitiveness.
He noted that the technologies developed have potential applications beyond communication infrastructure, extending to autonomous transportation, smart manufacturing, healthcare, disaster management, and defense. Kömürcü attributed this success to the company’s strategic intellectual property teams and core inventor groups composed of Turkish engineers and academic experts, whose innovative vision drives these breakthroughs.
Patents Strengthen Türkiye’s Path Toward Becoming a Technology Exporter
Kömürcü stressed that ULAK Communications Inc.’s patents represent not only technical achievements but also a concrete step toward Turkey’s goal of becoming a technology-exporting nation.
“These high-tech solutions reinforce Turkey’s potential to take an active role in shaping future international 6G standards. The steps we have taken with our domestic engineering power directly influence not only the communication infrastructure of the future but also Türkiye’s digital sovereignty and high value-added technology production. In line with this vision, ULAK Communications Inc. remains determined to continue working toward a technology-driven, future-ready Türkiye.”
