The 5th generation mobile network (5G) is defined as a new global wireless standard. It is designed to create a new type of network that connects virtually everyone and everything, including machines, objects, and devices.

5G is a more advanced and unified platform compared to 4.5G. It is intended to not only enhance mobile broadband experiences but also support new services such as critical mission communications and IoT, serving as an integrated platform.

Key features of 5G include support for all types of spectrum (licensed, shared, unlicensed) and bands (low, mid, high), various deployment models (from traditional macro cells to dense access points), and innovative interconnection pathways.

The technology aims to provide significantly low latency for instantaneous and real-time access. For example, end-to-end latency is expected to decrease tenfold compared to 4.5G, down to as low as 1 ms.

5G is designed to revolutionize life by enabling faster download speeds, lower latency, and higher capacity and connectivity for billions of devices. It offers end-users new experiences, such as near-instant access to cloud services, multiplayer cloud gaming, augmented reality shopping, real-time video translation, and enhanced collaboration.

In addition, concepts like digital twins, VR technology, smart transportation systems, and IoT are becoming integral to everyday life. Controlled deployment of these advancements is possible only by offering these technologies with domestic resources.

The knowledge and experience gained from 4.5G, along with the significant increase in the number of domestic and national base stations, continue to provide access across Türkiye via 4.5G ULAK base stations. For 5G, products and components compatible with both mobile communication technologies are being developed to harness this strength.

ULAK is also conducting 5G patent development projects in line with global standards. With its strong engineering team and R&D efforts, the company is shaping future technologies and setting new standards. 5G will not only revolutionize communication technologies but also drive changes and advancements in education, healthcare, transportation, and manufacturing.

5G Remote Radio and Active Antenna Units

The ULAK Remote Radio Unit (RRU) serves as the transmission and interface between the ULAK Baseband Unit (BBU) and user terminals. The Active Antenna Unit (AAU) integrates the RRU with the antenna system.

Signals from user terminals are transmitted to the BBU via the RRU or AAU. These units support channel bandwidths of 5, 10, 15, 20, and 30 MHz. Depending on the number of receivers and transmitters, options such as 4×4, 8×8, 32×32, and 64×64 configurations are under development.
